Madame Berard is the person who welcomes you to the hotel. Her daughter Sandra assists clients with any request. Her son Jean-Francois is the Executive chef of the two restaurants. Her husband René runs cooking classes.

Welcome to “La Bastide des Saveurs" cooking school, a beautifully restored 19th-century farmhouse located down the village of La Cadiere d'Azur. Property of family Berard, the farmhouse is nestled in magnificent ornemental and kitchen gardens. The first room to be renovated was the kitchen, decorated in a pure traditional Provence style with its colorful yellow and brick colorful tiles, its Lacanche stoves and ovens, and its wooden beams and its fireplace.
Learn and improve your skills in French cooking in following the fabulous expertise of Executive Chef Rene Berard. His creative cuisine is a tribute to the legendary flavors and fragrances of the Mediterranean and the Provence countryside produce. Depending on the season you decide to come here, you will prepare and cook different produce. Asparagus, artichokes, rhubarb, cherries… start in April and May. In summer, you are lucky with berries, peaches, apricots, tomatoes, eggplants, zucchinis, and more. If you come in September, you will have the figs, grapes, and some summer vegetables and fruits still. October is the beginning of autumn bringing vegetable roots, mushrooms, plums, apples and pears, but not only. Fish cannot be fresher than the fish market at Sanary's harbor. The lamb from Sisteron bought directly at the farm is just exquisite. And Provence is also famous for its honeybee farms, its goat cheese farms and its olive oil mills! Aromatic herbs grow wild and in Chef Berard's personal garden…
One class is operated at La Villa des Dentelles, run by Chef Marie, and coordinated in English by Corinne. The menu you will learn to cook includes organic produce and can be gluten-free if participants have allergies. It's also a way to say: I eat with pleasure with…, and being allergic to gluten is not a handicap!. It's an afternoon class followed by a food & wine pairing tasting dinner.
4 cooking classes scheduled in the morning are included in your program. In the afternoon, you will meet local people through visits to the producers: winery, honeybee farm, and olive oil mill. During your morning classes,Monday through Thursday, you will learn how to compose, and to cook different menus celebrating the Provence and Mediterranean cuisine. You will review the basic methods under Chef Berard direction. Each class is followed by a delicious 3-course lunch accompanied by wine. Provence is wellknown for its warm weather and you will have lunch on the patio, enjoying the scents of Provence.
Day 1 (Sunday) – Afternoon check-in at the hotel. Welcome drink and welcome dinner at the Berard Michelin-starred restaurant (the wine is at extra cost). Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 (Monday) – After your breakfast, direction the farmhouse “Bastide des Saveurs" and meet Chef René. You will get an apron, your chef hat with your name on it, and your recipes. before entering the kitchen you will explore the garden. You will smell and pick aromatic herbs, medical plants, vegetables and fruits from the garden. Back to the kitchen, you will partake your first class celebrating the meat. You will prepare a Provence stew, and a roast lamb or beef that you will taste afterwards. Afternoon visit to a local producer. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 (Tuesday) – After your early morning breakfast, you will go to Sanary-sur-Mer, a lovely village on the coast located 20 minutes from La Cadiere. Follow Chef René on the food market and meet the producers, the fishermen, and the smiling local people. After this fun shopping, back to the cooking school to prepare a delicious lunch cooked with the freshest produce. Tasting lunch and relaxing time in the afternoon. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 (Wednesday) – It is “vegetables day" as we love it in sunny Provence! Tasty, juicy, colorful, and flavorful vegetables are the best in the south of France as it's picked up ripe. Listen and keep our Chef's tips in mind… he will explain how to succeed in your recipes. It will be useful when you will make these recipes at home. Lunch at the school. Afternoon visit to a local producer. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 (Thursday) – We are Thursday and it's already your last class which is geared towards pastry and desserts. You will learn how to prepare and to bake a tart and a lava cake which are the French classics. A 3-course lunch is served at La Bastide. Of course you will enjoy the fruits of your labor at the end, and you will get your Cooking Certificate. Afternoon visit to a local producer. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 (Friday) – Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out not later than 11:00am. End of the tour.
